MYSTERY REVEALED: Adelaide Crew Behind ‘Hollyweed’ Prank!

We chat to the masterminds behind the Hollyweed prank and get the inside scoop.

In case you’ve been sleeping for the past few days, the pranksters who altered the iconic Los Angeles Hollywood sign with tarps to read Hollyweed, have straight up broken the internet. What you might not know about the viral sensation however, is that the culprits behind the sign are homegrown South Aussies.

Changing the sign was apparently a piece of cake. One of the Adelaide pranksters and owners of Australian Cannabis Corporation, Ben Fitzsimons, revealed to Glam Adelaide that his business partner Shane Yeend has some sort of “agreement” regarding the famous sign so… they “just got it done”. Simples. They couldn’t dish out the dirt on who’s lucky hand placed the tarps over the “O”, but did hint they were both here in Adelaide when it happened. Alas, the true mystery continues.

But apart from getting global recognition for the now trademarked Hollyweed brand, the Adelaide entrepreneurs have managed to get their Australian Cannabis Corporation capital raising venture off the ground and into the spotlight for a much more meaningful cause by leveraging off the sign.
Australian Cannabis Corporation are the leaders in medical marijuana in Australia. They work with the state government to make patient access easier.
Fitzsimons said, “we [South Australia] are in a state in financial stress with thin employment opportunities. Raising awareness about the economic, health and social benefits of legalising marijuana could be huge for the state.”
“For example, Colorado saw $2.5b in 12 months and the creation of 18,000 jobs after legalising marijuana. So we’re trying to highlight this as whole new industry for economic power that we could tap into.”

LONG LIVE HOLLYWEED!
What’s next you ask? They’ve kept it under pretty tight wraps but we’re told there has been some early talks of using South Australia’s GM Holden plant as a base for the legal medical marijuana industry.
