Naaz on Pulteney is a family-owned and run Persian restaurant that will transport you to a Persian wonderland via inspiring interiors and delicious food offerings.

Operating on Pulteney Street, Naaz was opened by Omid Moghaddami and his wife, Mali Ershad, in February of 2019.

The restaurant is named after their daughter, Naaz, and roughly translates to ‘very beautiful.’

In keeping with its name, Naaz on Pulteney is beautifully decorated.

A picturesque mural of Omid’s grandparent’s hometown, Masouleh, adorns the back wall of the establishment, transporting you straight to the Persian countryside.

The couple opened the restaurant to pay homage to their heritage and bring the traditional taste of Rasht cuisine to Adelaide.

Omid explains that the unique food of Rasht has been named by UNESCO as the creative city of gastronomy, due to the fact it has 165 different types of authentic meals.

The menu at Naaz has a mouth-watering selection of slow-cooked meats, vibrant vegetarian salads, and vegan options.

Some of the more popular dishes include the slow-cooked lamb shank, jewelled rice salad of tender chicken with wild Persian barberries, slivered pistachios and almonds, and their golden fried eggplant served with crispy fried onion and pickled vegetables.

Naaz on Pulteney is a family-friendly restaurant that’ll leave you utterly satisfied.

Owner, Omid, recommends ordering the Naaz Sini, known as the restaurant’s tasting platter, for a truly unique and authentic taste of Rasht cuisine.

Remnants of the former dance studio that the building once housed still remain with one side being completely mirrored.

Omid has installed pillars along the mirrored wall to mimic the exteriors of authentic Masouleh homes.

When asked what the future holds for Naaz on Pulteney, Omid explains there are plans to redesign the menu to add more authentic Persian offerings.

Naaz on Pulteney is open for dinner Monday to Saturday from 6pm, and lunch every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon.
