Nab $5k Prize If You Can Upcycle A Car Door Into Art For The Fringe!

Think you have the creative juices to repurpose an old Holden car door into a REVolutionary piece art for the Fringe?

The Playford Palace team is on the hunt for South Australian artists to get involved and create works to be displayed in it’s Lion and the Unicorn exhibition during the Adelaide Fringe from Friday 24 February. And for some incentive there are cash prizes of up to $5,000 and the opportunity to drive around a free Holden loan car for two weeks to sweeten the deal.

Be part of the Royal REVolution art competition and shift the perception on contemporary art, taking these pieces back in time to life in the Playford Palace. All artists have to do is transform old car doors (supplied by the City of Playford) into eye-catching, jaw-dropping pieces of work, whatever medium the artist picks.

For artists to be considered for the exhibition and prize money, artists must provide an Express of Interest Form, an artwork description that meets the royal and fantasy competition brief and examples of previous works by Friday 16 January, 2017.

A selection panel will choose a maximum of 20 pieces that will then be part of The Lion and The Unicorn exhibition and be in the running to win.

There will be four prize categories including:

• King (Male, or someone who identifies as Male, entrants): $1,500

• Queen (Female, or someone who identifies as Female, entrants): $1,500

• People’s Choice Northern Crown: $1,000

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Wokali (Kaurna Shield): $1,000 All category winners will also win a free Holden loan car for two weeks.
