There’s a special little guy that’s travelled all the way from the United Kingdom to join his new friends on Bindi’s Island at Australia Zoo these summer holidays. He’s outgoing, charming and very-much looking forward to his permanent holiday in tropical paradise, but there’s just one problem – he needs a name!
The five year-old Ring-Tailed Lemur comes from Colchester Zoo in England. Joined by his friend Maci, the pair made the journey to Australia to live the relaxed island life down under. He was sure to pack all the essentials for life on a tropical island, but forgot one important document that Australia Zoo now need your help with. Yes, you can help them name their Lemur!
From December 26, the new lemur will join Vatobe, Betafo, Mandaby and the gang on Bindi’s Island where they’ll enjoy playing hide and seek in the treetops and sunbaking in their yoga-esque poses.
Ring-tailed lemurs are social and friendly, with loads of character. Originally from the island of Madagascar and found in forests living in troops – it makes perfect sense for these guys to have their own neighbouring island, as a part of Bindi’s Island to explore. Guests visiting Bindi’s Island can get a picture perfect view of the cheeky lemurs from Bindi’s treehouse, with 3 levels to choose from.
Australia Zoo’s friendly new lemur is inquisitive, affectionate, and is definitely not camera-shy. He recently borrowed one of the Australia Zoo cameras to take a quick ‘selfie’ to show you all his good looks, just to make choosing a name a little easier for you guys!
The Australia Zoo team are inviting everyone to suggest a name for their new lemur by heading to Facebook or Instagram (yes, you can enter twice!) to comment your name suggestion with a justification in 25 words or less. You’ll also have to share the post using the tag #NameOurLemur to go in the running. By doing so, you could not only win the amazing opportunity to name their new lemur – but win a family pass to Australia Zoo to visit Bindi’s Island, and a lemur encounter for your family!
The most creative name with the best reason will win; so take inspiration from his new island habitat, the authentically-African names of his friends, or from his cheeky personality. They will draw the winner on December 29 2014 when entries close, so be sure to enter on Facebook and Instagram by clicking the links here: http://on.fb.me/13ob4xn or http://instagram.com/p/wmzS43xCBV/?modal=true.
