Drop by your local Bunnings store between 9am and 4pm this Friday 28 October to grab a snag to help raise funds to support communities across Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania impacted by flooding.
More than 300 Bunnings stores nationally will be running a sausage sizzle fundraiser with Bunnings team members behind the BBQ. Customers will be able to pay for their snag using a digital payment or cash and will also have the option to make an additional donation on the day in-store and online ahead of the BBQ.
All funds raised through the sausage sizzles will be going to The Salvation Army, who are working to support impacted communities through the emergency and recovery phase. The funds allow the Salvos to be on the ground now and for the long-haul, supporting with financial grants along with practical and emotional assistance.
The Salvation Army Head of Public Relations, Major Bruce Harmer said all funds raised will assist the Salvos who are supporting communities in flood-affected areas across Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania.

“The Salvation Army Emergency Services (SAES) has had teams assisting at nine centres: Creswick, Echuca, Bendigo, Seymour, Echuca, Tatura and Shepparton in Victoria; Moama and Wagga Wagga in NSW. As the floods peaked last week, the Salvos were in 22 evacuation centres across New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.
“Our personnel are on the ground right now in our catering trucks and trailers, providing meals and emotional support for those impacted by floods and this work will continue well after the initial emergency response phase, providing support to ensure communities are supported practically, as well as emotionally, through the recovery and rebuild phases too,” said Major Bruce Harmer.
“If you can, we encourage Australians to get down to a Bunnings on Friday 28th and grab a snag to support flood impacted communities, knowing all funds will go directly to those most in need. If you would like to make a financial donation, please visit Bunnings Flood Support (salvationarmy.org.au) or 13 72 58,” Major Bruce Harmer added.
Bunnings Managing Director, Mike Schneider said the team across Australia were keen to support people affected by the recent flooding by hosting sausage sizzles this Friday.
“As a part of the local communities who have been affected, which includes some of our own team, we want to help,” Mike said.
“Our team members always embrace the opportunity to get behind the BBQ to help out. We are pleased to be partnering with The Salvation Army who are doing an incredible job supporting communities who have been impacted” Mike added.
“We know there is a long road ahead, and Bunnings team members will continue to work alongside impacted communities in the coming weeks and months to offer support and assistance with the recovery and rebuilding process,” Mike said.
For anyone unable to get to their local store, the option to donate is available through Bunnings’ website: Bunnings Flood Relief BBQ. You can also learn more about the Salvos flood support: Disasters and emergencies | The Salvation Army Australia.
The national BBQ complements contributions Bunnings has already made to the recovery effort through store teams supporting on the ground through donation of essential products and clean-up efforts.
In the last financial year, Bunnings has worked with The Salvation Army across Australia to help raise and contribute over $415,000 through over 900 activities.
