It’s long been the most coveted ticket in South Australia, certainly during the festive season, but it’s been one that was out of reach for most Adelaide folks.
Adelaide’s Christmas Pageant has long been a closed door situation, with employees of the major sponsors, and various marching bands and dance groups being the only people able to participate.
For those of us longing to be an elf, clown or other festive character (Gavin Wanganeen was once a Christmas cupcake), you now have your chance.
Applications have just opened to join in on the magic. And it’s easy as pie to apply.
To be eligible to apply, you simply need to be 16 years or older and hold a current National Pharmacies membership. Positions are limited, so apply ASAP and be a part of the action, back on the streets of Adelaide for the Pageant’s 90th year.
It’s the first time the Pageant will be back on the streets, after two years hosted at Adelaide Oval.
The 2022 National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday 12th November 2022. The street parade will depart from South Terrace at 9.30am, delivering Father Christmas to the Adelaide Town Hall about 11.30am.
Since 1933, South Australians have welcomed the start of the festive season with the Southern Hemisphere’s largest public parade, and 90 years of Pageant magic is a special milestone to be a part of this year.
Pageant Director Brian Gilbertson said the event is expected to draw a significant crowd.
“On average, upward of 300,000 people have lined the streets for the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant to welcome Father Christmas to South Australia,” Mr Gilbertson said.
“We know how much everyone has missed the street parade, so I encourage all South Australians to come along bright and early to the event, save your favourite spots behind the blue honour line to be a part of our huge Pageant family as Father Christmas comes to town and heralds the start of the Christmas season.”
Vito Borrello, Chief Executive Officer, National Pharmacies said that he, and the National Pharmacies staff and members are proud to support the Pageant and see South Australians embrace the arrival of Father Christmas on Saturday 12 November.
“National Pharmacies is delighted to support and participate in this cherished Adelaide tradition and the team is thrilled to see the parade back where it belongs,” Mr Borrello said.
Registrations to be a part of the Pageant close 11.59pm Sunday 3rd July 2022.
