National Broadband Network Rolls Out Across Adelaide

Thousands of South Australian residents and businesses will enjoy faster internet as the National Broadband Network is rolled out over the next three years, with Adelaide Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood excited about the benefits the NBN will bring.

Mr Yarwood said the announcement made last week by the Gillard Government regarding the rollout would be welcomed by businesses, residents and people working in the public services alike.

“This really is great news, not just for Adelaide but for South Australia, as people now have an idea of when they will have access to this national infrastructure.”

“Faster broadband will ultimately place Adelaide at the cutting edge of the new economy,” Mr Yarwood said.

NBN Co is scheduled to begin construction on the national fibre network from as early as April this year.

There are NBN Co plans to connect 327,300 South Australian homes, businesses, schools and hospitals by July 2015. Some work has already commenced in the metropolitan area.
