Neil Perry Dishes Up The Best of South Africa

Inspired by the eclectic pot of flavours in South Africa, renowned chef, restaurateur and author Neil Perry is encouraging all Australians to experience the ultimate food and wine safari adventure, which is South Africa.
Travelling through Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg, Perry met with locals and the country’s top Executive Chefs to share food philosophies and recipes.
“My food philosophy is all about local, high quality produce and fresh ingredients so I was thrilled to meet with likeminded chefs in South Africa,” said Neil Perry.
“The country is astonishing beautiful, the people warm and welcoming and I was extremely impressed with the quality and variety of the food and wine that was available.
“South Africa offers an amazing opportunity for foodies to travel around on their own food safari that will continually inspire and excite. From a traditional South African braai, to a seafood buffet on the beach, or to the Winelands and Shebeens, everyone should add a South African food safari to their bucket list. With an excellent exchange rate, there’s no reason not to. I will be returning to South Africa to continue my food safari adventure very soon!” added Neil Perry.
Lalie Ngozi, South African Tourism General Manager Australasia, was delighted that Neil fell in love with the food and wine of her homeland.
“Like Neil, Australians love their food and wine and desire truly unique experiences when they travel. South Africans are lucky enough to have amazing and uniquely different ingredients on hand and love entertaining their friends and family, so they are very much like Aussies in that sense,” said Ms Ngozi.
“Travelers can do more than safari with wildlife in South Africa, they can have fun with their food and wine, tasting and experimenting with new flavours while also taking in our incredible landscapes and diverse cultures,” added Ms Ngozi.
