E-scooters are slowly rolling out across the city, with the latest expansion now announced in the City of Unley. Australia and New Zealand’s leading e-scooter operator, Neuron Mobility, will be launching in Unley on Monday February 14.

The fleet of Neuron’s purpose-built e-scooters will cover a 14.5 square kilometre riding area including Everard Park, Black Forest, Goodwood, Hyde Park, Kings Park, Unley Park, Highgate, Fullarton, Wayville and Parkside.

The expanded rider area is set to be welcomed by Adelaide locals who will now be able to travel further, and more extensively, between the CBD and surrounding areas.

Neuron e-scooters – currently available in Adelaide CBD, Adelaide Coast and the City of Norwood, Payneham & St Peters – have been embraced by locals as an environmentally-friendly form of transport.

The City of Unley will become the sixth council in Adelaide to welcome e-scooters, providing residents with a safe and convenient transport option to explore their local area and commute into the CBD.

Head of Australia and New Zealand at Neuron Mobility Richard Hannah said they are thrilled to be launching the e-scooters in the City of Unley, and further expanding their operations in Adelaide.

“E-scooters have already been proven as a great way for locals and tourists to travel in a safe, convenient and fun way in five other council areas across the city,” Richard said.

“And now, more people will be able to take advantage of them to travel around their local area, as well as commute to and from the CBD.

“Safety is our top priority; it dictates our e-scooter design and also the way we operate them.

“Our e-scooters are jam-packed with cutting-edge safety features and we know from our existing operations in Adelaide, that riders really appreciate this.”

Neuron’s next-generation e-scooters have been purpose-built to a commercial grade, specifically for renting and rider safety.

They have visibly larger 11.5” wheels and wider footplates than other e-scooters. They deliver a high level of safety, stability and rider experience, to give users an extra level of confidence.

The e-scooters feature an app-controlled Helmet Lock, which secures a safety helmet to the e-scooter, electronically releasing it to use at the start of the booking.

Riders will benefit from voice guidance to educate them on how to travel safely; a Follow My Ride feature which allows riders to share their trip with friends and family in real time for added safety; and a 000 emergency button which can tell if someone has had a fall, then help them call the emergency services.

A topple detection feature will alert Neuron’s operations team if an e-scooter has been left on its side so it can be repositioned; meanwhile, Geofencing technology will control where e-scooters are ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel in certain areas.

Riders will be able to book and use the e-scooters through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in a matter of minutes.

Single trips will cost AU$1 to unlock the e-scooter and 45 cents per minute thereafter. More frequent users have the option to purchase Neuron Passes.
