Three years from inception, Never Never Distilling Co. have undeniably made their mark as a distillery on the forefront of Australia’s gin scene.
From humble beginnings in a 16 square metres of shed space to producing Australia’s most highly awarded gins from their stunning brand home located in the famous McLaren Vale wine region.
It is Never Never’s laser focus on flavour and the classic London dry style of gin that has resonated with bartenders, competition judges, and the ever-growing gin lovers alike.
From taking out the World’s Best Classic Gin at the World Gin Awards in London in 2019 to being voted #1 Australian Spirit in the 2020 Hottest 100 Aussie Spirit Countdown - their philosophies are simple. More flavour makes better gin and better gin makes better drinks – and Never Never gin was designed with a singular purpose in mind, to create the perfect spirit for G&Ts and classic cocktails.
The most recent accolade Never Never have picked up on the competition circuit came just last week at the World Gin Awards, where their Southern Strength Gin was named Best Australian Classic Gin and their Dark Series Grenache Gin, ‘Ginache’ also picked up a gold medal in the flavoured gin category.

“Since being named Best Classic Gin in the world in 2019, it’s continued to be an absolute pillar of consistency.
Likewise the relatively new Ginache has also earned acclaim, but Sean says that there’s some exciting plans for the product this year which will be shared with fans soon.
Overall, it’s been a constant “pinch yourself” moment for the brand since selling their first bottle in August of 2019.
“When we first won a big global trophy (World’s Best Classic Gin at the World Gin Awards 2019), we fell out of bed,” Sean says.
Other notches in Never Never’s belt include Distiller of the Year – The Spirits Business 2019, 3rd Highest Trending Global Gin – Drinks International – 2019, Best in Show – Australian Gin Awards 2019 and 2020, Best Regular Gin and Double Gold – San Francisco World Spirits Competition – 2020, and Champion Australian Distillery at the 2020 Australian Distilled Spirits Awards.
“We’ve always been cautious and humble when it comes to awards, but at this point, we’re confident and proud to say that we make Australia’s most highly awarded gins,” Sean says.
“I think this comes from our relentless and fearless pursuit of excellence. We simply don’t want to put something in a bottle unless it’d be our favourite thing to drink in that category.”
