New $5 million upgrade to Hallett Cove netball hub and sports oval unveiled

The newly opened Cove Netball Hub at Hallett Cove, features expanded facilities with an investment of $5 million to enhance local sports communities including netball, football, and cricket.

Hallett Cove has a shiny new home for netball! The Cove Netball Hub has just opened its doors, welcoming the Hallett Cove Netball Club and the Cove Tigers. This isn’t just a minor upgrade, with the whole area being transformed as part of the Cove Netball and Lower Oval project.

It’s all thanks to a team effort between the State Government and the City of Marion, who together have invested $5 million. They’ve invested in a brand new netball club building, two extra netball courts, shelters, improved lighting, and a bigger car park to handle the growing crowds of sports fans.

The netball club building is now kitted out with a canteen, a multi-purpose room for events, plenty of storage space, and two change rooms.

And the good news doesn’t stop there. The project also gave a much-needed makeover to a multi-purpose sporting oval. This is fantastic news for the Cove Sports and Community Club, home to over 1600 members playing everything from football and cricket to soccer, netball, and BMX.

Premier Peter Malinauskas shared, “This is a big day for the southern suburbs. We promised to improve the Cove Sports Precinct, and we’ve delivered. These new facilities are a game-changer for netballers.” He also said it was a great way to get kids off their screens and into healthy activities.

Mayor of Marion, Kris Hanna, is equally thrilled. “Our two netball clubs at Hallett Cove finally have their own courts and clubrooms,” he remarked. “It’s a fantastic outcome for the community.”

It’s not just about fancy new facilities, though. This project is all about getting more young people involved in sport. By making sports more accessible and enjoyable, the government and local council are hoping to encourage a healthier lifestyle in the community.

This is just the first step in a grand plan to give the southern suburbs top-notch sports facilities that everyone can use. It’s a promising sign of things to come for sports and community projects in South Australia.
