Frankly Bagels is the latest addition to the ever-growing string of trendy eateries in Prospect.
You can expect many things from Frankly Bagels – strong coffees, ‘naughty’ bagels and a simple layout with plenty of space for social distancing.
Owners of the store, Jack Crichton, Christie Wilkinson and James Donnelly, say the store has been in the works for many years but the idea of bagels only hit them recently.
“It is such a popular fan favourite food over America and Europe, we thought it was crazy it wasn’t more of thing here in Australia. Once we decided on the bagel concept, we focused in on making it delicious, slightly gourmet and a little bit naughty,” Jack said.
The team of owner’s credit each other’s skills in making the concept come to life, with Jack’s foodie skills and Christie and James’ barista backgrounds.
Frankly Bagels has been styled to perfection from the ground up, with the owners keeping to a clean and simple aesthetic.
The store is situated right outside a park, giving customers the perfect option for enjoying some fresh air and social distancing whilst enjoying a bagel and a coffee.
The team knew it wouldn’t be easy opening a store in the middle of a pandemic, but knew their original business model would always carry them through.
In Jacks words, “now was certainly an interesting time to try and open a business and we have seen a few raised eyebrows. But our business model always had a strong take-away aspect and one week in, it seems to be working out.”
We asked Jack, Christie and James what their favourite item on the menu is because who doesn’t like to plan ahead?
Jack loves the #8, Pastrami, Swiss cheese, slaw and Russian dressing.
He’s a chilli fan and both the pastrami and Russian dressing have some kick.
Christie is a fan of the classic #3, Salt beef, pickles and mustard.
James agrees, the #3 is a classic and definitely not to be missed.
