New Artistic Director Announced For Adelaide Cabaret Festival

Adelaide Cabaret Festival sees Australia’s TV and stage favourite, Julia Zemiro, as Artistic Director in 2019!

Throughout the history of Adelaide Cabaret Festival, dynamic, exciting and ridiculously talented people have sat atop the festival’s guilded throne in the role of Artistic Director. This tradition will continue in 2019, as Julia Zemiro, an Australian entertainment heavy hitter, will take the baton from outgoing Artistic Director Ali McGregor, who leaves the role after three successful years.
A large part of cabaret is the MC: Sassy, fiery, charming and deadly. As the host of Rockwiz for over a decade, Julia Zemiro has cajoled and charmed thousands of punters, contestants and professional musicians to move out of their comfort zones and spar, be it on TV or live on stage on five national tours.
In addition to RocKwiz, Julia Zemiro has gathered legions of fans from her roles in Home Delivery and Eurovision, yet her history of entertaining the masses doesn’t stop there. She’s not only worked as a TV host, but also as an actress, singer, comedian and writer.
Aside from the benefits that Julia Zemiro’s obvious array of experience will bring to the role of Artistic Director, the triple threat will bring along her bubbly stage presence to the role of MC, spreading an infectious excitement throughout all of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
The announcement of her appointment concludes Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2018, which delivered 53 shows over 16 days and nights. This included more than 40 sold out performances across the festival.
