Ever scroll through Instagram and constantly see the same eatery pop up and wonder if that place is near me because it looks stunning?
Well, KOYO on Prospect Road has garnered that level of social media notoriety. KOYO promises to prepare a gourmet-style Asian-fusion dining experience with the help of stunning interiors and friendly service.
But for owner Clara, the opening of her dream brunch spot has been a long time in the making.
“I live nearby and I’ve always loved the area, so when I saw the space I knew it would be perfect for what I wanted to do. It took about a year and a half to finally have the space and I couldn’t be happier,” Clara said.
If you have been lucky enough to see some of KOYO’s food pictures, you would have seen the menu had so many colours and textures that would make anyone’s mouth water.
KOYO has an array of contemporary and more traditional dishes on its Asian-fusion menu. Some of the dishes that have us excited is the Katsu Sando made with panko buttermilk chicken, cheddar, brioche bun, special sauce, fennel slaw served with fries. Or even the Dry Ramen which is served with teriyaki glazed pork belly, egg ramen, tare, ajitsuke egg, nori butter, onions and leeks.
This is Clara’s first soiree with opening a business, but she has a trusted team of partners that have helped every step of the way.
“This is my first business with my partner, but I also have a friend who is my other business partner and we’ve worked well together in the past,” Clara said.
The warm aesthetic of the venue is one of the draws to the space. KOYO – which means autumn in Japanese, incorporates all the principles of that seasonal change. From the colour scheme of burgundies, oranges and yellows, the transformative season that is autumn is symbolic of new life and growth.
KOYO is now open for its iconic brunch as well as opening for dinner service.
So if you’re after a hearty Asian-fusion style brunch or a simple matcha latte, KOYO seems to have all the makings of your new favourite eatery.
