I’m always intrigued when a new hotspot pops up on the Adelaide scene, particularly one with the Instagram-friendly aesthetic of Ferg’s. In the suburban heart of Stepney, where Little Bang Brewery used to sit, Ferg’s is right at home. Cosy, rustic, and effortlessly cool, the collaborative cellar door is set to bring Winemakers, Brewers, Distillers, (and drinkers) under the same roof.
Co-founders, Winemakers, and cousins Jordan Hein and Bevan Ferguson celebrated the grand opening of their joint venture last Saturday.
“For us, we’ve been working towards this for a good couple of years,” says Hein. “To be able to see it come to fruition is a great thing to experience.”
With the Winter months fast approaching, Ferg’s is the perfect place for those tired of sticky nightclub dance floors, instead keen for a quality beverage and a chin wag.
“I like to think of it as a relaxed but open venue,” continues Hein. “It’s clean and minimalist but still has the functionality and presence of a winery cellar door.”
The cousins intend for Ferg’s to be a creative hub, a place for multiple brands, new release wines, beers, and of course, a horde of gins. Hein and Ferguson have already produced a beer with Little Bang, and the aptly named ‘Ferg’s Gin’ with Imperial Measures Distilling. In an inspired touch, the local artwork on the walls of Ferg’s is also available for purchase.
“Moving forward we want to work closely with other small wine producers as well as distilleries and breweries,” Hein says. “We’d like to give them the same opportunity we’ve had in terms of growing brand and hosting events.”
Ferg’s is open Wednesday – Friday from 3pm until late, and Saturday – Sunday from 12pm until late. You can find it at 8A Union Street, Stepney, 5069.
