City of Marion has just showcased their newest and most exciting upgrade- a bird-themed wonderland situated in Hallet Cove’s Nannigai Drive Reserve.

The recent transformation has been long awaited by the community, and the reveal was nothing short of incredible. Set in a friendly and bustling location, City of Marion certainly did not disappoint with the fabulous new play-space.

Featuring a state of the art interactive playground, scooter pump track, upgraded toilet and picnic facilities, and multipurpose sports courts that meet all of your basketball, soccer, and tennis needs- it has everything you would possibly want for a day of family fun.

The wheelchair accessible space is complete with a fully decked-out cubby, an impressive swing set, an assortment of climbing and balancing equipment, and even features a xylophone for any budding musicians.

With an expansive lawned area and plenty of shade under the provided shelters and trees, it is the perfect spot to set up a picnic blanket and admire the amazing artwork scattered throughout the reserve.

Aligning with the ‘bird wonderland’ theme, the play-space features an assortment of incredible birdlife-inspired artwork from three local artists.

Visitors will find a stunning timber sculpture by Geoff Bromelow, a mosaic bird bath by Mike Tye, and several vibrant birdlife wall murals by Jeremy Boyd- perhaps you could even challenge the kids to spotting the rainbow lorikeet or yellow-tailed black cockatoo.

If you’re lucky, the local birdlife might pay you a visit while you enjoy your lunch at the all-inclusive barbecue facilities.

Whether you’re cooking up a snag, or sharing a pizza or burger from nearby Karrara Pizza, why not bring the whole family down and enjoy Hallet Cove’s newest and most inviting community space.

Nannigai Drive Reserve has been upgraded in conjunction with the adjacent Capella Reserve, which is set to be completed in late 2021 as part of the Hallet Cove precinct plan. The upgrade will feature a breathtaking skate park, walking trails, and additional car parking.

Nannigai Drive Reserve can be found at Nannigai Drive, Hallet Cove.
