People are flocking to Mister Pigeon, the newest establishment on Gillies Street offering breakfast, brunch and lunch in the historical corner shop previously known as Fawn Coffee.
After changing hands from Fawn in late-2019, Mister Pigeon owner Callum Dinnison has ensured this much-loved, much-visited space in Adelaide has kept the friendly, vibrant atmosphere of past its establishments. Nestled in the suburbs of the CBD’s south east, Dinnison hopes to make Mister Pigeon a staple for relaxed city dining with friends and family.
“City location, suburban vibes is kind of our tagline,” Dinnison says. “The vibe here is very funky, relaxing, welcoming and fun.”
On the menu at Mister Pigeon is coffee brewed from Dawn Patrol Coffee, South Australia’s favourite speciality brew. The food options vary widely, with the menu offering house-made cakes, sandwiches, burgers, tacos and toasties fresh from the kitchen every day. Vegan and vegetarian options are aplenty, with at least a third of the menu catering to cruelty-free options.
“There is a large selection of gluten, vegetarian and vegan items on the menu,” Dinnison states. “We’re also going to make 52 toasties for the 52-weeks in the year, so people can expect a lot of different flavours coming out of the kitchen.”
Keeping the space communal as possible, Mister Pigeon is hosting events each Friday ranging from wine-tastings, quiz nights, drag queen bingo, slam poetry and plenty of other events to keep of other monthly activities.
“That is probably what makes us stand out,” Dinnison says. “We are very community-based and want to support any creatives or artists who want to use our space to showcase their work.”
Mister Pigeon is located at 269 Gillies Street, Adelaide and is open from 7:30am-3:30pm on Monday to Friday.
Friday night events are held on the first Friday of each month from 4pm.
