New café Same Place to open in Port Adelaide

Same Place is opening in Port Adelaide with a host of breakfast dishes, Asian-inspired lunch options, and a gorgeous venue.

There’s a new eatery opening in Port Adelaide, but it aims to be that same place you just keep going back to and can’t get enough of.

Same Place is opening in Port Adelaide on Tuesday with a host of breakfast and lunch options. With a sleek, window-lit fit out, the new café is serving up meals with a twist. Manager Namit Mangal explains the offerings.

“It’s a simple-style breakfast menu with local produce, and the lunch has contemporary combinations with an Asian influence,” he says.

For breakfast, Same Place’s menu has classics such as eggs on toast, a four-cheese omelette, and a club sandwich, but the new café also has some innovative takes on traditional meals. They have vegan chilli scrambled tofu with sourdough, mango waffles with seasonal berries, a chipolatas and mushroom medley with a poached egg, and the “green eggs” with grilled broccolini, avocado poached eggs, and halloumi.

For lunch, there are small platters such as prawn dumplings in Thai green sauce, Asian spiced chicken wings, and more; Nasi Goreng, butter chicken, and more.

“Indonesian, Indian, Thai and more influences. It’s a combination of all cuisines, making for an interesting mix,” Mangal says.

Same Place also has a liquor licence and has wine and beer, as well as soft drinks, fresh juice, coffee, and tea.

In the space that was formerly Rice Cafe, Same Place seeks to join a budding hospitality scene in Port Adelaide.

“I opened a venue in the area in 2007, and people called me crazy to open a restaurant in Port Adelaide, but the Port has actually started happening now,” he says.

“It used to be a retirement village, but now young foodies are coming in, and people are traveling to it.”

Find Same Place at 13 College Street, Port Adelaide.
