If you can’t manage to escape for a tropical jaunt this summer, a new cafe in North Adelaide is bringing the vibes to you.
Opening on December 13 on Melbourne Street in North Adelaide, Coco Flamingo is a health-conscious cafe, serving up colourful and nourishing fare.
The menu is predominantly vegan – there are still some dairy options – with fresh smoothies and juices, seasonal salads, protein waffle bowls, vegetarian burgers and more.
Coffee is an organic roast by Soho Coffee, and you can also tuck into a kombucha from locals MOJO. And for that added tropical touch, all iced drinks are served in a coconut.
It’s the first venue for owner Luke Parrella, who says he wanted to create a venue with, “a beachside vibe. Something fun you would find in Byron Bay or along the beach”.
The dreamy interior has an indoor/outdoor vibe, with plenty of blush pink and greenery. The main bar is lined with white breeze blocks, and the centrepiece is a neon pink Coco Flamingo sign hanging above a macrame wall piece on the back wall.
Outdoor furniture and wicker lounges sit amongst planter boxes, and if you’re really lucky, you can nab the two swing chairs at the front. The rest of the space is decked out with furnishings handpicked by Luke on a road trip to Byron Bar earlier this year.
It’s the sort of space that, quite frankly, we’d like to move into. But if you don’t have time to stick around, they also have healthy grab and go options in the cabinet, like seasonal salads and gourmet toasted sandwiches.
