A new café has opened on Rundle Street to give you your KAFI:N fix!
KAFI:N is now open for business, and it’s also undergoing renovations for even more additions.
As of now, the new café is serving up Dawn Patrol coffee, snacks like croissants and cookies, and gelato from a refrigerated cart. However, come mid-June, KAFI:N is expected to launch a full kitchen serving up Asian-inspired brunch and a new cocktail bar upstairs.
Owner Aisen Liong also owns Chinese restaurant Hsin Fortuna on the Parade, so the Chinese influences in KAFI:N’s upcoming brunch come naturally.
“Instead of normal brunch, we will do a fusion brunch combining the east and west,” Liong says.
In addition to Asian fusion brunch, KAFI:N’s table service restaurant will also serve finger foods and an expanded dessert menu come June. The Rundle Street newbie already has its liquor licence, but they’re holding off on serving alcohol until the official opening of their cocktail bar this winter.
The current renovations will also include an updated fit out and furniture, which Liong says will be “modern and minimalist,” but as of now, KAFI:N already has ample indoor and outdoor seating, and a fun neon gelato sign.
Although their opening has been pushed back from summer due to COVID construction delays, Liong is happy to be at least partially open and looks forward to the grand launch.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s summer or winter: People still want their coffee,” he says.
“We’re excited to be open and our new date gives us time to work everything out before the summer.”
Find KAFI:N at 218 Rundle Street, on the corner of Frome Street.
