New creative collective with live jazz, coffee days, and local fashion brings fresh energy to Grenfell Street

Adelaide’s new creative collective GALERI has opened in the historic Adelaide Arcade, blending retail, events, and community collaboration to support emerging South Australian talent.

GALERI, the city’s newest creative collective, has moved into the historic Adelaide Arcade, bringing with it all things fashion, music, and creativity. Located at 120 Grenfell Street, this is more than just a retail space, it’s a community-driven platform designed to showcase and support emerging South Australian talent.

From the minds of local fashion figures Leon Kasperski, the co-founder of Archives of Zobo, and Shamsher Singh, the founder of Tauhfe, GALERI is designed to blur the lines between retail, events, and creative collaboration. Day to day, visitors will be able to shop a rotating line-up of independent fashion brands, but the space will also double as a venue for events like live jazz and DJ sets to panel discussions and coffee catch-ups.

What makes GALERI so unique is its clear sense of purpose. Everything is centred on entertaining, educating, and growing Adelaide’s creative community. And with the sleek but relaxed interior, complete with lounge seating, custom furnishings, and a giant moodboard wall, to the events and activations planned, this ethos is present throughout.

“Breaking into the fashion industry is tough, and we’re aiming to lower that barrier to entry,” says GALERI co-founder Leon Kasperski.

“Fashion is about so much more than the garments themselves. It’s how garments shape the way we move, speak, and express ourselves. In South Australia, there are pockets of incredible talent, but they can sometimes be difficult to access or are disconnected from emerging creatives. GALERI’s mission is to bring this brilliance together in one safe, inspiring hub for people with creative ambition, whether they’re just starting out or already established.”

GALERI has also implemented a Creators Subscription program that offers brand owners, models, makeup artists, and other creatives the chance to workshop ideas, seek advice, and use the space for meetings. Subscribers can call on the expertise of Leon and Shamsher, who will be offering guidance on everything from brand voice and fulfilment to the logistics of hosting a runway show. The subscription sets GALERI apart from just being a store, becoming a spot for Adelaide’s up-and-coming creatives to grow.

“We hope people feel energised by the studio and work-in-progress atmosphere, and inspired to shop or get involved in the local fashion scene,” said Leon.

Backing the venture is Renew Adelaide, a not-for-profit organisation that pairs creative entrepreneurs with vacant city spaces. GALERI is Renew’s 23rd activation in Adelaide Arcade.

“Groundbreaking ventures like GALERI are made possible with the generosity of a progressive, community-minded lessor who values small, unique operators,” shared Renew CEO Gianna Murphy.

“Adelaide Arcade has long been a destination for fashion, arts and culture, and it’s promising to see that legacy strengthened through the vision of our city’s young and creative operators.”

For Leon and Shamsher, there’s no better home for their new project.

“It’s a true privilege for GALERI to launch in Adelaide Arcade – one of the city’s most beautiful retail locations. It’s central, yet tucked away from the rush of Rundle Mall, creating an ‘if you know, you know’ experience.”

With its combination of all things retail, collaboration, and community, GALERI is sure to become a go-to spot for Adelaide’s next wave of fashion and creativity.
