Australia’s largest 100% family owned meat processing company has now commissioned a cohort of food carts to serve up premium quality food to the oval crowds.

Branded under the South Australian company’s Thomas Farms retail label, the first of the food carts will be unveiled at the iconic venue for the Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars clash on Thursday December 18.

In total, up to 10 Thomas Farms branded food carts are planned and will be located within the Adelaide Oval complex over the Summer season.

“We are continually looking at innovative ways to engage directly with consumers,” Thomas Foods International’s General Manager Retail Mr Rod Minett said.

“This is the first time we’ve invested in a direct retail product campaign of this kind. Partnering with Adelaide Oval has led to this concept being rolled out.

“We wanted to come up with a high quality range of products that best suited a world-class sporting venue. To do so, we enlisted the help of Hilton Adelaide Executive Chef Lloyd Cremer to work with our products and other fresh natural ingredients sourced from across the state.”

The Thomas Farms food carts will sell a range of Angus Pure beef and premium lamb meatballs to be sold in either a bowl topped with a choice of an Indian sambal, chilli con carne or Napolitana sauce and condiments, or as a sub.

Some carts will also later sell spiral potatoes on a stick with a twist while a unique range of seasonings will include yogurt, toasted cumin and celery salt as well as its own peri-peri seasoning. In 2013 Thomas Foods International purchased Mondello Farms, one of Australia’s largest potato growers and processors, which has since been rebranded to Thomas Foods Fresh Produce while expansion into other fresh produce is already underway.

The food carts, which have been developed in partnership with Adelaide marketing firm Hybrid, are the latest in a series of branded sponsorships and campaigns by Thomas Foods International that has included Oakbank, Tasting Australia and Tour Down Under.

Established in 1988, Thomas Foods International exports to 80 countries with annual revenue of more than $1.3 billion. Based in Murray Bridge, the company employs 2500 people across the group which has processing facilities in South Australia, NSW and Queensland as well as distribution facilities in Adelaide, Coffs Harbour, Brisbane, Darwin and USA. Thomas Farms is the single, global consumer brand for Thomas Foods International. Since being launched last year, the consumer brand has been rolled out in Australia finding its way into supermarkets across the country.
