Pack your bags South Australia because Fiji is back on the agenda!

In a positive step for international flights in and out of Adelaide, Fiji Airways is returning to our humble state and creating more flight paths to and from the island paradise, and to celebrate, they’re offering flights for a steal, starting at just $789!

Beginning on July 4th, two direct flights will depart weekly from Adelaide to the Fijian capital, Nadi, which is projected to boost South Australia’s trade and tourism economy.

“This is a positive step towards direct international flights to and from Adelaide becoming the norm again,” says Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison.

“It has been a hugely challenging time for the aviation, tourism and trade sectors and this is not just good for attracting more tourists to South Australia, but a step towards bringing back jobs that were lost.”

The news comes in a timely manner with the Fijian government recently making it easier for international travellers to visit by easing restrictions around Covid-19.

As of May 1, fully vaccinated visitors are no longer required to produce a pre-departure PCR or RAT, saving travellers time and money when making the trip across the waters.

The tropical paradise is a haven for beach-lovers and adventure junkies alike and with the weather cooling down around us, the temptation of escaping to the warm waters of Fiji is strong, to say the least.

The announcement follows the announcement from Air New Zealand that they too will recommence flights to Adelaide on the same day, with flights set to operate three times per week.

International capacity from Adelaide is currently sitting at 38 per cent of pre-Covid levels with eighteen flights per week, compared with 43 flights in pre-Covid times.

So, what are you waiting for!? Flights will depart from Adelaide at 12.35pm Mondays and Thursdays so call your boss, book a babysitter, do whatever you have to do because after the past two years, we’re all more than deserving of a little island R&R.
