New East End boutique bottleshop to specialise in local Italian grape varieties

Nostru will have a focus on South Australian Wines, Beer and Spirits and will operate as a bar on the weekends.

East Terrace is about to get a brand new bottleshop/bar called Nostru, which will be specialising in South Australian products, just in time for Adelaide Fringe season.

The venture is from Cono Gorgon, who is also the owner of Sicily Woodfired Pizzeria and Italy Cafe Ristorante e bar, and it will be located where the Oyster Bar used to be.

Nostru will have a focus on local South Australian wines but Italian Grape varieties, with a selection of local spirits and local beer.

Nostru means ‘our’ in the Sicilian dialect, and Cono decided on this name as he has had the idea for a while of selling South Australian Wines with Italian Grape Varietals as well beers, spirits and liquors made here.

Con is Sicilian but is also South Australian, so ‘ours’ to him means South Australian made.

He wants people to enjoy, perhaps different wine varities to what are readily available but with a huge focus on ensuring they are South Australian.

“The bottle shop and bar idea came with the thoughts of having a lot of wineries that we’ve had on the wine lists at our restaurants, and and I thought I owed them something for helping us, so thought I would open this and show people what amazing producers we have in the state.”

Cono is obviously well known for his food ventures, so on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights you’ll be able to get bar snacks as well.

“The food sort of goes with the theme of what I’ve done in the past- Sicilian style food, so that’s what you’ll get in terms of small bar food bites”

“To keep those that loved oyster bar, we’re happy to announce that we will be serving oysters as well.”

Also joining the team for this venture is veteran Sommelier Patrick White who will bring his vast knowledge of wine to the business.

“Patrick White is very well known in the wine industry, and will be involved on this project, so we’ve very fortunate to have Patrick with us,” Cono said.

The venue is in a prime location for the Fringe and as Cono said, the offerings they have will be “Thrillers not fillers”.

All things going to plan, the restaurant will be open on Wednesday the 17th of February.

The trading hours will be Wed-Thursday, Sunday 10am-9pm and Thursday-Saturday 10am- until late.

Nostru will be located at 14 East Tce, Adelaide, South Australia 5000 Australia
