Local spirits and craft brews are all the rage, and for good reason: They provide an opportunity to support your community, and in South Australia, they’re delicious.
The South Australian Distillery is capitalising on the moment by putting its nearby favourite spirits in an SA-focused bar.
The bar stocks more than 90 local spirits and cocktails made with all the household names, from 78º to 23rd Street Distillery to Adelaide Hills Distillery.
Kylie Munchenberg, who worked on marketing for the bar, says the inspiration is to make the best liquors of SA convenient.
“The inspiration was to bring together SA’s amazing distilleries with a variety of spirits in a centrally located area on a night out,” she says.
Owners Elena and Serge Ambrose also own the downstairs eatery, Siberia Restaurant, so the South Australian Distillery also prioritises quality food.
Tapas such as truffle mushroom croquettes soaked in Adelaide Hills white wine and spring rolls are available to munch on alongside your drink of choice.
Located in the heart of Adelaide’s East End overlooking East Terrace, the South Australian Distillery is perfectly located for a drink after the Fringe.
“It’s prime real estate with a balcony overlooking the Fringe,” Munchenberg says. “It’s absolutely beautiful.”
In keeping with their love of all things local, the bar also hosts live SA musicians, such as soul funk lover Sir DJ G on Saturday nights.
