Exclusive Look Into PIPPO, The Eatery Taking Over The Historic Paesano Site

With six hospitality venue notches under their belt, Danielle and James have reinvigorated the O’Connell St institution with a warm, light-filled eatery that’s open seven days a week.

Taking over the historic Paesano site earlier this year, is the duo behind Franklin Street’s PUBLIC and the Bowlsomes, Danielle Elia and James Anthony have launched new eatery, PIPPO.

With six hospitality venue notches under their belt, Danielle and James have reinvigorated the O’Connell St institution with a warm, light-filled eatery that’s open seven days a week.

Danielle who doubles as an interior designer has poured her experience int PIPPO and when I ask if she was inspired by something specific, she tells me that it’s all about the feeling behind the venue.

Starting from Eco Tile Factory’s pink rosa travertines that cover the bar, the rest of the design went on from there.

The venue is plant filled, courtesy of plant stylist, Emma Said Thomson, who recently worked on newly opened West End restaurant, Stem. Alongside Adam Johnson from Xtra Shiny who worked on PIPPO’s branding, the venue has a distinct identity.

With whicker and rattan furniture, PIPPO transports you to not a place, but to a feeling of warmth, hot nights, deep summer, and good food. In perfect timing too as they opening tomorrow.

Accessibility and consistency seems to be key in communities and the North Adelaide community is no different. Danielle tells us that excitement has only been increasing with the opening of the North Adelaide Bowlsome.

The menu is described as everyday food for everyone; and that is built on the difference between CBD dining a la PUBLIC versus the suburban vibe that exists in North Adelaide.

PIPPO retains that old school charm but acknowledges that hospitality venues today require a touch of modernism.

And that touch of modernism carries on to the menu.

Under executive chef, Jaime Glennie, a team consisting of an in-house pastry chef, two pizza chefs and the kitchen team, a menu that breathes inclusivity has been created.

Dependent on their opening hours which span early morning to late evening, PIPPO has three menus; a breakfast menu, a brunch menu, and a kitchen menu.

From your classic eggs on toast, to blue swimmer crab scrambled eggs, alongside a host of house made pastas and pizzas (courtesy of their wood forno), whether you’re feeling like sharing or scoffing down your own meal, the option is there.

A grab-and-go station serving freshly baked panini, cured meats and pastries will also accommodate for the bustling morning and lunch crowd.

Passerby peeking through the doors and promising they’ll return the following morning when the eatery is officially open assures us that it’ll be a busy day for the team tomorrow morning.

PIPPO will be open 7 days a week from 7am to late, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals — and an all-day brunch menu during the weekend.

Find PIPPO at 67 O’Connell Street, Adelaide.
