NEW Food And Wine Festival Coming To The Eastern Suburbs

This food and wine festival is a family-friendly, two-day event set to celebrate SA food vendors, wineries, gin distilleries, and local entertainment.

The Urban Picnic is set to make its first appearance later this year at Linde Reserve in Stepney from November 22 – 23.

This food and wine festival created by Sam Worrall-Thompson is a family-friendly, two-day event celebrating South Australian food vendors, wineries, gin distilleries, local entertainment, and activities for children.

Sam Worrall-Thompson is known in the Adelaide scene for successful projects including the annual beachside festival The Sailing Club, popular Magill eatery Fine and Fettle, Kitchen and Catering by Sam.

Sam says, “I’ve wanted to explore the event space in Adelaide for a while now. This was a natural evolution of my exciting ventures and experience from The Sailing Club”.

Other venues will be contributing to the Urban Picnic fun including Pawn Wine Co, Little Bang Brewery, Forage Supply Co, Adelaide Gin, Brascos Pizza and Hygge Studio.

Of course, there will be music at the event, curated by Wasabi Entertainment (Peter Combe will be there as well).

Sam says this is an exciting opportunity to showcase local South Australian food and beverage, and highlight some hidden gems in the Eastern Suburbs.

The Urban Picnic is also particularly special in that they are taking a considered approach to making the event an environmentally sustainable one.

“We are working together with the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters Council to deliver an eco-friendly, plastic free event.”

He has also asked that food vendors step up to the plate with biodegradable packaging and serve ware.

“There won’t be a plastic cup or straw in sight,” says Sam.

“What better way to spend the day than relaxing in a park with a with a picnic rug and assortment of food and drinks while the kids play nearby.”

Tickets can be pre-purchased for the event and will also be available on the door.
