Renmark is warming things up this winter with the launch of Winter Wine Down, a brand-new festival bringing red wine, live music and riverside vibes together on the Murray this June.
Created by the crew behind the Riverland Food and Wine Festival, Sarez Pty Ltd is adding a cosy new vibe to the region’s winter events calendar, transforming the Renmark Riverfront into a celebration of local wine, food and entertainment on Saturday, June 6th.
Rather than slowing down during the colder months, Winter Wine Down is designed to champion them. The one-day event will highlight some of the Riverland’s premium red wines, encouraging visitors to get out of the house, cosy up by the fire pits and enjoy the very best of the region’s hospitality.
The festival will be centred around a large transparent marquee overlooking the water. Inside, guests will find a performance stage, seating and a dance floor, all designed to create a fun atmosphere while still keeping attendees nice and toasty. Outside, the riverfront will have food trucks, winery activations and relaxed outdoor seating.
“Through this event, we want to encourage extended stays across the festival weekend and support primary producers through tourism activity,” says Event Director Andrew Sarakinis. “As a Riverland local and wine grape grower, the goal for this event is to prioritise local suppliers, wineries and performers, and to reinforce the Riverland’s reputation as a destination for authentic food, wine and festival experiences.” This will be supported throughout the day with initiatives like a primary-producer-only raffle, offering practical support, with winners receiving a tailored marketing package from Creative Little Soul, helping growers impacted by ongoing drought conditions.
The day will also see a unique twist with In Pour Taste, a 90-minute wine tasting comedy show that pairs humour with wines from Ricca Terra Farms. It’s designed to make wine approachable and entertaining, whether you’re a seasoned pro or simply someone who enjoys a good glass of red. Live music joins the fun with five-piece band Mr Buzzy headlining, alongside a curated lineup of local acoustic artists and DJs throughout the afternoon and evening.
Running from 12pm to 8pm, Winter Wine Down is the perfect excuse to plan a winter escape to the Riverland.
