If you love quality Japanese food, and value for money, there’s a new offering in town that’s well worth checking out.
Adelaide’s all-you-can-eat game has just ramped up with Itsumo Japanese Restaurant & Izakaya Bar’s gourmet offering, including Wagyu beef, premium fresh sashimi, sushi, Izakaya dishes, hot pots, and more. Defying buffet convention, each dish is cooked fresh to order and generously served. You’ll be astonished at the quality and quantity of food offered for only $78 per person.
Itsumo Japanese Restaurant is located within the Stamford Plaza on North Terrace, in the space once occupied by Ginza Miyako. Since taking over the restaurant, Itsumo’s Manager, Alvin, has focused his energy on creating this decadent buffet to introduce the restaurant and Japanese cuisine’s extraordinary range of flavours to Adelaide’s foodies.
Alvin explained the rationale behind this sublimely priced buffet, saying, “We’ve created our all-you-can-eat menu so our guests can share and explore our beautiful Japanese flavours together. You can all order different dishes, taste something new at no risk and have fun with it.
“Because we select premium ingredients, we want them to taste their best, so we cook everything to order; we do not pre-prepare our dishes! This way, our guests enjoy freshly prepared flavours that capture the quality of the ingredients and our chef’s skills.
“We have over 80 dishes you can select from in our $78 buffet. Some you might have tried before, while others are new. We also use seasonal ingredients, so some options will change through the year. We want you to feel free to enjoy, explore and appreciate the extraordinary value of what we offer.”
Beyond the $78 AYCE buffet, Itsumo’s A La Carte Dinner provides the perfect pre-show dinner indulgence for those looking for an easy walk to the Adelaide Festival Centre, Convention Centre or Riverbank events.
Daytime diners seeking a fresh, nourishing, and easy lunch can pop into Itsumo for a Bento Box, Udon, Don, Sushi, Sashimi, or Tempura.
True to its name, Itsumo also offers an Izakaya Bar, your easy-breezy drinks and quick bite option. Snack on Izakaya bites such as Yakitori Chicken and Wagyu Rump Beef Tataki while you sip world-class Sakes, South Australian wines and other bevvies from their extensive Drinks menu.
While bringing in a new team and menu, Itsumo’s owners have retained the restaurant’s traditional Japanese Tatami Room with its exquisitely decorated Shoji screens for an authentic cultural immersion. The Tatami room’s floor-level dining features comfortable seating and ample leg space beneath the sunken tables to ensure comfort for the local audience.
The optional Western-style dining room retains the Japanese style with a palette that reflects the Tatami Room’s palette.
Now, let’s dive into that buffet, starting with the Hot Pot and its generous plate of choice Wagyu beef slices with a marble scoring between 7 and 8. You can choose one of four soup bases: three mild and one spicy, including their popular Sukiyaki base, which takes 10 hours to prepare.
While the hot pot is cooking on your table, you can explore the all-you-can-eat menu using the QR tag menu option, allowing you to order at your own pace. Order three to five dishes at a time, then once they’ve been served, order the next round, giving the kitchen ample preparation time for your next round of fresh flavours.
You’ll find a lot of the buffet dishes are also available on Itsumo’s A La Carte Dinner and Lunch menus, so when you return and feel like a lighter dining option, you’ll not only have a better idea of what ticks your tastebuds’ boxes, but you can also impress your dining companion/s with your expansive knowledge of Japanese cuisine.
For the festive season, Itsumo is adding another layer of extravagance with a Christmas Day Buffet lunch or dinner. Select from over 100 dishes, including a Premium Seafood Buffet with added luxuries, including Coffin Bay Oysters. For $138 per adult and $69 for kids under 12 (free for under 3), this will be a feast for the ages!
Want to set a sublimely high standard for 2025? You can also book into Itsumo’s Premium Six-Course Omakase New Year’s Eve Dinner. For $158 per adult, spoil yourself with a Deluxe Sashimi Platter, Alaska King Crab Bisque, Blue Swimmer Crab, Koji Duck Leg Confit, Wild Caught Barramundi, Wagyu Beef and more. For an extra $59, you can seal the deal with a pairing of five wines and sakes.
