Are you a micro or small business based in the CBD or North Adelaide that has been negatively impacted by COVID-19 restrictions? If so, the City of Adelaide is offering a City Business Saver Grant that could help you.
Eligible businesses can apply for a cash reimbursement equivalent to 50% of the third quarter 2021-22 financial year rate but get in quick because applications close at midnight 31 March 2022.
Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor said Council is committed to supporting city businesses as the city continues to recover.
“We are focused on the practical things Council can do to help city businesses in the wake of the devastating impact of the Omicron outbreak this summer,” the Lord Mayor said.
“Council is getting cash back in the hands of small businesses as well as supporting them with a comprehensive package of more than 20 initiatives designed to deliver cost savings and get people back into the city.”
What can I use the money for?
You can use the money for anything related to the operation of the business. For example, this money could cover business costs, utilities, salaries, and rent. It could also pay for financial, legal, or other advice should the business need it.
If the business needs additional marketing and communications services to bring customers back to your business, the grant can cover that too! The City Business Saver Grant is flexible and much needed to many struggling businesses trying to recover from the pandemic.
But what counts as an eligible business?
The City Business Saver Grant is available to micro and small businesses within the City of Adelaide that:
- employ between 1 – 20 employees
- occupy non-residential properties
- occupy a space that would be the equivalent to $0 to $15,000 in council rates (businesses do not need to be directly responsible for payment of rates to be eligible)
- can provide proof of a 30% loss of revenue from 27 December 2021 to 9 January 2022, from 10 January 2022 to 30 January 2022 or from 1 February 2022 to 28 February 2022.
There are a couple other basic eligibility requirements (i.e. have an ABN, be registered for GST, etc.), so be sure to check out the full eligibility guidelines.
Your business also needs to have a physical presence in the City of Adelaide local government area (bricks and mortar, not online).
If you’ve previously received either the COVID-19 Business Hardship Grant SA or the COVID-19 Tourism, Hospitality and Gym Grant SA, never fear – you won’t miss out. You will be instantly approved for this new grant when you provide proof of your assessment outcome.
