NEW High Tea café, The Queen of Adelaide, opening on the Queen’s Birthday Weekend

A new High Tea café, The Queen of Adelaide, is opening with perfect timing to celebrate the Queen’s Birthday Weekend.

A new high tea café, The Queen of Adelaide, is opening this weekend, bringing high-end sophistication to the market.

Owner Carolyn Hardlitschke has been putting off the grand opening of her store, so that her café aptly named, The Queen of Adelaide, coincided perfectly with the celebrations of the Queen’s birthday weekend (Saturday 11 June).

After living in Sydney for the past 11 years, Carolyn has been anxiously waiting to return to her hometown of Adelaide and bring the glamour of Sydney’s High Tea world with her.

“The business started with myself and one of my daughters, Lola, and now boasts a staff payroll of six full-time employees, and 12 casual staff including juniors,” Carolyn says.

“With a passion for beautiful things and the finer things in life, it was my heart-felt desire to open a high tea like nothing else Adelaide had seen.”

The business is named in honour of her mother-in-law, Heidi Hardlitschke, who she lovingly refers to as the “The Queen”.

After searching for a home for her café, Carolyn says she is “just delighted” to finally be opening in the Early Settlers furniture store which she says is a “match made in heaven”.

Early Settler’s previous café, Pressed Tin, had to close due to COVID like so many other cafes and stores, but for Carolyn, it was the perfect timing and she snapped up the spot.

“Early Settler customers are my customers that I am looking for. This was serendipitous, I was in love. The Queen had found her home.”

Early Settler Adelaide Store Manager Kerry Sweetman says “Having an adjoining cafe provides our customers with a true lifestyle experience of being able to both shop and relax over coffee and cake and make a day of it.”

The café will offer a selection of different high tea options to suit every occasion and price range.

The Queen of Adelaide officially opens ahead of the Queen’s Birthday long-weekend and is celebrating the occasion with specialist high tea experiences including children’s high tea, sparkling high tea, cocktail high tea and even high tea for pooches – pawfecto!!

For adults, prices start at $55 per person for a traditional high tea experience, and will go up to $80 for the fancier spread with champagne included.

The Queen of Adelaide will be opening over the long weekend, Saturday 9-5pm and Sunday & Monday 11 -5pm.

Located in the Early Settlers building at 215 Grote Street, Adelaide.
