New Hospital for the Barossa

Vineyards in the Barossa Valley of AustraliaThe Liberals have announced their intention to build a new $35M Hospital to replace the ageing Angaston and Tanunda facilities should they win office.

The proposed site adjoins the Tanunda Recreation Centre and is fully supported by the Barossa Council as the preferred site for any development and would be known as the Barossa Region Health Precinct.

The State Liberals took this issue to the election in 2002 and obviously feel strongly that the region is in desperate need on this facility, as it is right near the top of their health policy again this time around.

Taking the current desperate state of our public health system into account, especially in the regional areas of the State, this seems to be right on the money as far as practical election commitments go.

The facility will house 55 beds, with an Emergency Department, 3 operating theatres and a maternity wing.

Ms Redmond made comment that “the two existing hospitals in the Barossa region at Angaston and Tanunda are outdated and the facilities are no longer up to standard……the Rann Government has neglected SA’s regions for too long now”

New health services for regional SA can only be a good thing in my opinion – nice work Isobel.
