Azzurri Continental has just taken home on Sir Donald Bradman Drive offering traditional Italian bites and a fine selection of products from the mother country itself.

Get your hands on some authentic Italian ingredients, pre-made fresh dishes, and homemade lunch treats at Hilton’s newest continental store which opened on February 16.

The store front striped with green, white and red welcomes costumers for the delicious array of goods inside.

Think arancini balls, eggplant parmigiana, frittatas, paninis, lasagne, cabbage rolls, and homemade taralli.

The new Azzurri Continental store is co-owned by Ian Panunzio and Paul Porcelli who wanted to bring their Italian culture to Adelaide.

“When I grew up in Findon, I saw heaps of continental/homestyle Italian stores. But there’s not any around anymore,” Ian said.

Back in the day, Ian’s grandparents used to own the Gouger Fish Café. Ian’s mum and aunties used to work at the family business, so running small food businesses runs in the family.

“It’s not a big store [Azzurri Continental], but if you can give it a vibe you like, it can be very rewarding,” said Ian.

“It gives us the opportunity to share family recipes, like our signature focaccia and our stuffed capsicums. It’s great to share with people the food you make at home.”

The store has been a welcome addition to the area, after Ian and Paul identified a need for food options on Sir Donald Bradman Drive.

“There’s a lot of businesses around here and hardly anywhere to get food,” said Ian.

The multi-purpose store also provides pre-prepared meals, function platters, and a continental section for all your basic Australian and Italian ingredients. Azzurri Continental is the perfect blend of Australian and Italian products, so it can support local businesses and maintain its authenticity.

Azzurri makes all of its pre-made lasagne and other pasta dishes using pasta from another SA local business, Italia Pasta Fresca. So on those busy nights when cooking from scratch isn’t an option, pick up a tray of freshly made lasagne or ravioli, ready to warm up at home – no frozen stuff!

If you need to grab a cup of coffee while you’re on the go, Azzurri also serves SA-based Cirelli coffee.

Visit Azzurri Continental at 95 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Hilton SA 5033.
