New Italian restaurant Pasta on Para to open in SA Riverland

In the heart of the Riverland, a historic shopfront is now home to Pasta on Para, where rich Italian aromas fill the street.

In a historic little shop across from views of the snaking Murray River, a new restaurant is filling the street with smoky oregano and rich tomato aromas. After a whirlwind of renovations, meetings, and preparation, Pasta on Para is finally ready to open its doors on Para Street in Renmark.

For a special first taste, Pasta on Para has already opened their kitchen to takeaway orders, while the official opening is set for Thursday 29 May.

With 38 years of hospitality experience in South Australia and the Northern Territory, owners and husband-and-wife duo Jane and Jason Adami, have returned to their home state for an experienced take on home style Italian cooking. Pasta on Para marks their seventh restaurant fit-out.

“Our focus is on flavour, consistency and genuine hospitality,” Jane tells us. “The menu features a mix of traditional Italian dishes and personal favourites that tell a story.”

“Many of the recipes come directly from Jason’s family, including some passed down from his dad and aunties, while others are the result of years of experience, testing and refining.”

Set in the former Lindner’s Butcher shop on Para Street, the space has been completely reimagined with a warm copper and sage palette and a modern rustic feel. Original butcher’s hooks still hang in place, and a custom artwork of Colin Lindner at the entrance pays tribute to the building’s past.

“From the moment Jason stepped inside, he knew it was the right spot. With a background in running award-winning restaurants, he immediately saw the potential and set out to create something special,” Jane said.

Coming from a wealth of experience in the restaurant industry, the pair are keen to make this venture that little bit more nostalgic.

“We’ve had locals pop in to share memories of lining up for fritz as kids, and moments like that have made the transformation feel even more meaningful,” Jane and Jason tell us. “Some of the artwork comes from one of our previous restaurants, adding its own layer of sentiment.”

The charm of the restaurant’s interior plays perfectly with a selection of elevated Italian comfort foods that will evoke a real warmth and familiarity.

“Expect familiar comfort foods done exceptionally well, alongside standout specials like Jason’s Pesce Spada, an Italian-style swordfish,” Jane and Jason tell us.

“We’ll also have rotating ‘Pasta of the Day’ and ‘Fish of the Day’ options to keep things fresh and seasonal. Every dish is prepared with care and purpose, and we’re excited to share them with the Riverland community.”

With a cosy space, authentic flavours and decades of experience behind it, Pasta on Para is ready to serve up some delightful Italian favourites.
