New late-night AH-SAI-YEE bar to bring Acai to North Adelaide

New trendy Acai and espresso bar AH-SAI-YEE will open in North Adelaide next month.

Whether you’re a sweet tooth or a health nut, the new Acai hotspot opening in mid-November on O’Connell Street should be next on your must-try hit list.

Called AH-SAI-YEE, the trendy venue will help revolutionise Acai in Adelaide, following its growing popularity in other states around Australia.

“It’s everywhere interstate and going crazy in Sydney and Melbourne, but in Adelaide there really isn’t a lot like it at this scale where it’s coming straight out of a soft-serve type machine,” owner Anthony Chahoud says.

“We’re going to be open later in the evening as well which is a fresh concept.”

After finding a gap in the market where over 95% of Acai shops in Adelaide are closed after 4pm, AH-SAI-YEE will be opening its doors until 10pm and then 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

It’s the perfect laid-back spot to enjoy Acai bowls, which is a very thick smoothie with toppings that you eat with a spoon.

“The Acai we have sourced came from months of trial and error, realising there are too many that are considered ‘dessert’ Acai packed with sugar and guarana. The Acai we selected is in fact the highest-grade pulp acai, meaning the healthiest,” Anthony says.

“The amazing thing about our Acai is that it is classified as a superfood and has numerous proven benefits such as anti-ageing effects, aids weight loss, helps digestion, promotes skin health, great source of fibre, boosts energy and mental function, boosts the immune system, promotes heart health and a great source of vitamins.”

If you’re looking to make it sweeter, you can pair your toppings with chocolate, peanut butter, or pistachio sauce, as well as other deliciously sweet toppings.

“Once you try it, you will keep coming back. The creaminess of the Acai with the sweet sauce is next level,” Anthony says.

There will also be smoothies, fresh juice, coffee, raw snacks like banana bread and raw slices, and even small paninis and wraps.

AH-SAI-YEE is no small feat. It’s 19 year-old Anthony’s first business and he’s already got new locations on the horizon.

“I’m already in talks about opening a 2nd and 3rd store on the eastern side and north side of Adelaide as soon as the first one rolls out,” Anthony says.

“While the nerves are high at this point I’m so excited to be able to finally open.”
