The Mallee Box packages all the glory of our state in a humble box and delivers it right to your door.
The concept was created by Madeleine Hayes and Danielle Geelen as they curate all things of SA produce, indulgence and relaxation in a thoughtful box.
“Our aim is to support small local businesses, whilst celebrating all of the produce and products in our beautiful state,” Madeleine said.
“The idea is that it is a carefully curated gift box, a gift that you would usually expect from a loving mother or sister.
“It’s a thoughtful yet easy gift. You just click and we do all the hard work for you – gifting made easy.”
The boxes contain products from various regions including McLaren Vale, Port Lincoln, Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley.
Much loved brands include Mischief Brew, Tarallini, Never Never Distilling Co and Lucias.
The girls thought of the idea when travelling in Noosa in early 2021. Madeleine said they saw a similar concept and thought it would be great to replicate this with an SA focus. They brainstormed the concept and gave it a shot.
“I have always been the one in the relationship to come up with new business ideas and Danielle is the voice of reason and sets me straight, yet this idea was different, she loved it,” Madeleine said.
“With both of us working full time we have spent our weekends slowly gathering products, designing boxes and creating an online store.”
The girls converted their spare bedroom into an office space where they could package and store all the products. Madeleine said with the help of some clever friends in design and photography they were able to create beautiful gift boxes.
“We currently have fifteen boxes online ranging from wellbeing boxes, celebration boxes, mum to be boxes, foodies boxes, boxes for a mate or a lover and the malle classic which is a bit of everything,” she said.
“Some of the boxes contain booze and food and others are just for relaxation. We have covered all occasions.”
The girls have also recently launched a spritz and beer box. It’s the perfect gift this festive season that people can bring on Christmas day or the beach this summer.
The Mallee boxes range in price from $55 to $159 suiting a range of budgets, and with free shipping in SA it’s the perfect gift.
In the future, they hope to create boxes with a focus on different SA regions such as the Barossa box with all the best of Borossa. Danielle said they plan on scaling and modifying boxes to suit key events and dates for 2022.
