The Vale Bistro & Bar is the latest must-try venue to hit the McLaren Vale, serving up elegant pub meals in a stunning historic location.
The new venue is located at Heritage. by SA on Main, and will be joining the Pantry and Pink Tulip florist, to become the McLaren Vale’s ultimate one-stop shop.
“Heritage has always been a collective, and that’s what the Vale is joining and wants to support. It is a collective space for community and local businesses, which has been around since the 1860s, that long-standing history is where the name comes from,” brand and customer experience manager, Monique says.
“Within this building, we’ve got three different businesses, Pink Tulip Florist, who have been servicing Heritage for many, many years. They’ve got gorgeous flowers and bouquets.
“There is also a little pantry with imported goodies, wines, handmade products, cards, jewellery, really anything you can think of. They support a lot of micro-businesses from the area, and are a place where local artisans can showcase their work.”
The Vale Bistro & Bar is a much-welcomed addition to the collective, as they prepare to serve up breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The bistro will have all your classic pub favourites, reinvented and redesigned, to suit the world-class food and wine being produced in the area.
“The head chef, Matt Hopkins, is Scottish but calls himself a Scossie (Scottish Aussie). He has a background working in Michelin-star restaurants and an array of venues across the state. He brings with him a menu which is a fusion of elegant fine dining and good ole-fashioned pub meals.”
“I wanted to take it back to basics, so perfecting simplicity is very important to me. I see it as cooking classics with a modern twist and I take inspiration from my travels across the UK and Australia” says Chef Matt.
“We think the community has been looking for a place that has fantastic pub meals and casual dining, so we hope to fill that void for them,” Monique shares.
For all the sporting fans out there, the Vale will be playing both NRL and AFL on their big screen. They will even be hosting two double-header rugby union showdowns, as the Springboks go up against the Wallabies and then as the All Blacks face up to the Pumas on August 10th, and again as the All Blacks take on the Pumas and the Springboks vs the Wallabies on the 17th.
“The big drawcard is for sure the big screen. Before the restaurant opened the Heritage group always used to show live sports, World Cup rugby, AFL and more. The Vale will continue with that as we’ve seen an appetite for it in the community.”
They will also be a part of the Fleurieu Food Festival, hosting a four-course South African-inspired dinner. As the Vale Bistro & Bar makes its home in the McLaren Vale, it will be a fantastic new hotspot for casual dining with family and friends.
