Adelaide’s food scene just got spicier with the opening of Mamacita Restaurant and Bar at the TRYP by Wyndham Pulteney Street Adelaide.
This new hotspot, which launched in November 2023 inside the hotel that opened its doors in March 2023, offers a vibrant taste of Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine right in the heart of the city.

The restaurant and bar are strategically placed to catch both the early birds with a robust breakfast offering from the lobby and the night owls looking to unwind at the first-floor bar after dark. Whether you’re craving a breakfast burrito to kickstart your day or winding down with empanadas and enchiladas, Mamacita caters to all tastes.
As evening rolls around, the venue transforms into a lively hub of activity. The dinner menu, crafted with South Australian ingredients wherever possible, is a deep dive into the flavours that define Mexican cuisine.

The menu at Mamacita’s is a celebration of Mexican classics like tacos, quesadillas and nachos and features other drool-worthy offerings. These include chipotle-marinated chicken, succulent pork ribs, decadent carne asada featuring slow-roasted and marinated scotch fillet, cured kingfish in lemon and lime, and yuca fries made from the yuca root, commonly found in South America and the Pacific.

Mamacita’s bar scene is equally impressive, boasting over 50 types of tequila, including high-profile brands like George Clooney’s Casamigos and Kendall Jenner’s 818. The mezcal offerings provide a smoky counterpoint, perfect for those looking to explore beyond the familiar.

For margarita enthusiasts, the bar offers 14 different variations, along with a creative cocktail menu that encourages guests to customize their drinks.
The real draw, however, might just be the ‘hot sauce library’, which showcases a daring array of chili sauces sourced from around the globe. The collection features everything from mild to tear-inducing options, with the most extreme sauce—rated at a scorching level 50—requiring a signed waiver before tasting.
Luke Tuckwell, Hotel Sales Manager, said “I grew up in rural South Australia, and to me Mexican was a hard-shell taco stuffed with beef mince, shredded lettuce and grated cheese. Mamacita has opened me up to what Mexican food really is, it is so much more, it is comfort, joy, and variety.”
“Plus, I get to show how ‘hard’ I am with the hot sauces” he laughed.
General Manager Valentin Corchado left Spain for London where he lived in a shared apartment with a new friend to be Miguel, who also relocated to London but from Mexico City. Using some of Miguel’s home country recipes, they discovered the pleasures of working with a vast number of different chillies from guajillos and poblanos to chipotle, pasilla and anchos.
“The story of our bar is about fun, celebration, sharing, ambiance, music, people and tropical happiness, and without a doubt is also about our service with a smile and heart…and don’t forget the largest tequila collection in South Australia”. – Valentin Corchado, General Manager
This new foodie concept located in TRYP by Wyndham in Pulteney Street is the perfect spot for a long dinner with friends or a hot date night, complete with spice, tacos and t-t-t-t-t-tequila!
