King William Road is about to get a taste of modern Asian cuisine with the arrival of 2nd of June, a highly anticipated restaurant that aims to bring a variety of Asian flavours to the strip.

The restaurant, which already has a successful establishment in the CBD, is expanding further into the suburbs to provide easier access to great food.

“We’re trying to bring the experience closer to the people,” restaurant co-owner Than Rattanakosit says.

“Having been in the industry for 12 years, we believe it’s time to expand our reach and cater to those who live near King William Road. This iconic strip lacks a significant Asian presence, and we want to fill that void and provide a unique culinary destination for locals.”

With an extensive team boasting years of experience, including the renowned Rue De Sian, the Sorcerer’s Bar, the Caribbean Bar, and the Power Up Bar (all located in the CBD), 2nd of June is set to make its mark on the local dining scene.

The team is excited to introduce their expertise in Asian culinary arts to a broader audience, migrating talented chefs from Rue De Sian who have extensive backgrounds in Asian cuisine.

Inspired by the success of their CBD-based ventures, 2nd of June aims to create a unique dining experience on King William Road.

The restaurant will feature a distinctive neon design, a signature element creating an atmosphere reminiscent of late-night Tokyo vibes. The interior may include vibrant gardens, further enhancing the ambiance.

The establishment will be open day and night, providing a dynamic setting for locals and visitors alike, and there will even be a bar within the venue. It will offer a fusion of modern Asian dishes, drawing influences from various Asian cuisines, including Thai and Chinese.

Boasting a wide range of flavours, it will provide a delightful culinary journey for diners seeking diverse and exciting tastes. Whether patrons choose to dine-in or opt for the convenience of delivery, the restaurant promises to deliver exceptional Asian cuisine that caters to all palates.

While 2nd of June is no indication of its opening date, which will be in a few months time, it does allude to the restaurant’s unique nature.

“The name actually started with my sister and co-owner [Thira Rattanakosit] who’s birthday is on the 2nd of June,” Than says.

“Not only that but there’s a lot going on on this date that made history, like Queen Elizabeth II was officially crowned, Confederate soldiers yielded to Federal troops in Galveston, Texas, ending one of the final land operations of the American Civil War, Australian cricketers, Steve Waugh and Mark Waugh were also born, it’s also national rotisserie chicken and rocky road day and so on. So we wanted to share a little historical events behind this date.”

King William Road is set to receive a fresh culinary addition with the arrival of 2nd of June.

With its extensive experience and dedication to providing exceptional dining experiences, the restaurant aims to elevate the local dining scene, offering a fusion of modern Asian dishes attracting food lovers from near and far.
