Clare Valley has always been a gem in SA’s crown. But this year it seems to be taking off. With the Watervale Hotel recently being named the Best Hotel Restaurant in the world, and many of the wineries making the list of the Top 100 around the country.
And now a new luxury retreat is set to emerge, promising a blend of modern design and natural beauty. The project, crafted by the acclaimed Mold Design Studio, is a fresh take on tourist accommodation, offering both modern villas and glamping tents.
The retreat’s villas, set amidst a serene olive grove, is set to showcase contemporary design with sleek gable roofs and a mix of metal, timber, and polycarbonate materials.
Each villa, whether it’s a one, two, or three-bedroom, centers around an open living and kitchen space. The decks promise breathtaking morning views over the olive groves. Designed with privacy in mind, each villa feels like a secluded haven, but larger groups can opt to book all three, accommodating up to 12 guests.
For those looking for an authentic outdoor experience without compromising comfort, the glamping tents are the answer. Positioned on the western slope, these tents offer panoramic views. Guests can wander along gravelled paths, leading them through the vegetation to their private tents.
Modern amenities aren’t far away. An amenities block, echoing the design of the villas, provides bathrooms for each tent. It houses five bathrooms, a janitor’s store, and a camp kitchen exclusively for glamping guests. An outdoor seating area invites guests to relax and soak in the surroundings.
Known for its top-notch Riesling, Clare offers visitors a mix of scenic vineyards, quaint towns, and local eateries. It’s a laid-back spot perfect for those looking to escape the city hustle. Whether you’re up for a bike ride, a historical tour, or just a good glass of wine, Clare Valley has something for everyone.
