With businesses reopening their doors, new Norwood cafe Planter & Loft has, in a peculiar way, had to introduce people to their physical venue following weeks of trading through takeaway orders.
With owner, Kelly’s 20 years in the business, and joined by her experienced team, the once empty venue has undergone a stunning glow-up.
Planter & Loft features an enclosed outdoor area that’s fitted out with heaters (perfect for winter), and an indoor section filled with bar and round tables, perfect for group visits. The cafe’s most unique spot is their loft, which overlooks the entire venue.
Upstairs on the loft you’ll find a bar overlooking the entire café, and alongside plenty of seating, you can also relax on their gorgeous chesterfield couch.
“To us, the venue was a blank canvas and it was an opportunity for us to start from scratch and bring the building back to life,” the Planter & Loft team says.
“We took everything out and started fresh; new flooring, fresh paint, new furniture, new kitchen – everything. We wanted to create a warm and inviting space that showcased our love for plants, simplistic beauty and a balanced combination of rustic meets modern.”
Planter & Loft has gorgeous rustic white walls, covering textured bricks, neutral wooden flooring, and a range of bright green indoor plants scattered across the venue.
“We took a long time to be certain the building’s best features are showcased and complimented by the fit out,” they say.
When restrictions fully lift, the capacity for the venue will be around 45 to 55 seated. However, as Planter & Loft are planning on hosting functions, their capacity will be even higher for standing up, cocktail functions.
Menu wise, Planter & Loft, have the classic breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes with a few special additions.
Catering for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free folk, the cafe stocks organic coffee beans and Fleurieu Peninsula milk.
“Post COVID-19, our menu will be expanding and growing,” Planter & Loft say.
Menu highlights include a delectable homemade crumpet stack with peanut butter, homemade salted caramel sauce, fresh banana, and mascarpone.
“Another highlight is our mushroom melody, with thick cut toast, oyster and portobello mushroom mix, crispy enoki mushrooms, poached eggs, smashed avo – so good!”
They also have an abundance of sweets in store, starting with fudges, cakes, cheesecakes, protein balls, and more.
On Friday nights, from 4pm onwards it’s Happy Hour at Planter & Loft, they have a huge wine list, gins, vodka, scotch, whisky, as well as beers, ciders, and cocktails, from SA producers on offer.
Monday to Thursday – 6:30am – 4pm
Friday – 6:30am – late (4pm-late is happy hour)
Saturday to Sunday – 8am – 2pm
