Encounter Bay is about to get a serious glow-up this Sunday with the launch of Alpha Club, an 18+ oceanfront space serving up an live music, DJ sets, and ticketed events.
Located above the popular Whalers Seaside Dining restaurant, Alpha Club offers the perfect mix of a relaxed coastal atmosphere and energy that will see you into the night.
With a bar at one end, wave-style seating through the middle and a spacious dance floor, the area lets you mingle or boogie – it’s the best parts of a nightclub, a bar, a lounge and an intimate event space, all in one.
“The goal of the club is really to be a bit of everything… a venue that can host live events and also have DJ sets. It’s a smaller, more intimate venue, about 50 people, we’re hoping to attract live artists who are into that vibe,” says Creative Director Anthony O’Sullivan.

The space features a large balcony that overlooks the sparkling waters of Encounter Bay and beach-facing windows that allow natural light to fill the space during the day.
“It’s absolutely magical,” says Anthony.
“Inside, there are huge beach windows, so even when you’re indoors, you’ve got that bird’s-eye view of the ocean. It gives off a relaxed seaside vibe and feels more like a bar than a nightclub, but with a dancefloor and music,” he adds.

Though still in its early stages, it is set to host a variety of events. From comedy nights and DJ sets to live acoustic performances and even wine and gin tastings, the space lends itself to everything.
“Events will start ramping up and becoming a bit more varied—with live music and other events—and then hopefully even larger live music events going into summer,” he explains.
The idea came from a need for a late-night venue on the coast. Most of us are familiar with the hunt for an open-late spot with good tunes and atmosphere, only to find that nothing seems to be open.
Luckily, these guys have set sail with a solution. Alpha Club is here to fulfil your wants and needs and, better still, the menu is specially curated for a late night adventure. Expect all the classic cocktails plus some yet-to-be-revealed extras.
“Mostly down here there’s nowhere to really go out and enjoy night time stuff,” explains Anthony.
“This just adds something extra—a more intimate and relaxed place where people can dance and have fun.”
Whether you’re a south coast resident or down for the weekend, Anthony invites you all to this late night spot. Ocean views, cocktails, and an excuse for a late night rendeavous, it’s the place we never knew we needed.
