New plant-based bakery Clara Cakes fueling Adelaide’s vegans

The bakery operates via subscriptions, home delivery, and wholesale––but you can also now find their eats at popular cafes in the state.

Sugary, baked to perfection, “gooey and delicious,” and completely vegan-friendly: Clara Cakes is here to serve Adelaide’s plant-based community.

The new Adelaide Hills bakery has a range of sweets, including croissants, danishes, “cruffins,” brownies, cookies, loaves of bread, and specialty cupcakes and cakes. With lemon curd danishes, almond cream and rhubarb pastries with strawberries, pear and almond frangipane, and a vanilla custard and apple brown sugar compote, Clara Cakes’ flavours are rich and just begging to be enjoyed!

The self-described “plant-based micro bakery” operates primarily via subscriptions, home delivery, and wholesale––but you can also now find their eats at popular cafes in the state. Plant-based favourite Mettā Sol in Goodwood, BLVD Eatery in Mount Barker, and the Lost Deli in Norwood now stock Clara Cakes’ various desserts.

Mettā Sol seems very excited about hosting the bakery’s danishes, croissants, and cruffins.

“Oh-yes! Today is the day, the beginning of our pastries journey with Clara Cakes,” they shared on social media.

Many of Clara Cakes’ vegan delights revolve around their special secret weapon: Their housemade, plant-based butter.

“[The butter is a] staple ingredient in making our buttery vegan croissants, danishes, and cruffins,” they share on social media.

“We make these slabs in-house a day before lamingating into the dough. Once finished we rest for up to 6 hours before rolling into your favourite pastries. The taste is truly matchable to dairy butter but without the guilt.”
