The first Jacka Brothers beer was poured in 1877 amid the foothills of the Mount Remarkable National in Melrose, Flinders Ranges. The refreshing bevvies continued until 1934 when the brewery closed down and moved a farmer with his flock of sheep who needed some shearing.
Over 80 years later, in 2021, the Hobbs family ‘hopped in’ with a dream and the requisite drive and resources to deliver the Jacka Brothers Brewery experience to a new audience.
The first stage of their glorious restoration was unveiled in June 2021 with the opening of their Taphouse Brewery. Since then, they’ve served craft beverages and hosted weddings and functions with their catering partners, Nosh On Garden Goodies and Little Nibble Co.
Their relentless pursuit of excellence continues with the release of their latest accommodation offering: two new Mountain Lodges, “Kimberella” and “Spriggina,” which complement the existing offers of the Brewer’s Cottage and The Brewery Guesthouse.
They’ve described the architecture of these two luxury base camps as “… a combination of a Canadian Mountain Hut and an Australian Alpine Chalet”.
Each three-bedroom lodge is uniquely designed, focusing on beautiful aesthetics and superior finishes.
For those who love a bedroom with a view, The Master Suites boast loft bedrooms, positioning you for a sublime view of Mount Remarkable. The views continue to the lounge room, where you can get cosy in front of the fireplace while gazing out the floor-to-ceiling windows.
As tempting as it would be to remain within the lodges all day and night, the provision of mud rooms, equipped with a washer, dryer and storage space for your cycling and hiking gear, encourage you to venture into nature’s beauty. Spend the day letting loose, getting grubby, then return and collapse your weary bones amid your blissful refuge.
