New Restaurant: 8020BK Thai Fusion Opens In City Laneway

Wander up the road from the laneways of Leigh and Peel Streets and you’ll find this new eatery.

The laneways of Leigh and Peel Streets are already bursting with top eateries, bars and late night spots.

Wander just a little further and you’ll find another laneway, Blyth Street, which is just off Hindley. Down there you’ll find brand new Thai fusion eatery 8020BK.

The name refers to their food which they describe as 80 per cent Thai, 20 per cent fusion (and the BK stands for Thai capital, Bangkok).

Run by three chefs, Pattra Wongkhamchan, Seksan and Vareevan Suntharaphai, on the menu you’ll find Thai dishes with a local twist, using local produce.

On the drinks list there’s local wine, plenty of Asian beers, and these Thai-inspired cocktails and mocktails with pops of colour.

And if you love a good lunch deal, they’re running a lunch special at the moment to celebrate their opening. Choose from a basil chicken, crispy pork belly bao, pad se-eew, pad Thai, or Thai style barbecue chicken, with a soft drink or juice for $14.

8020BK is open Monday to Saturday for dinner, and lunch Tues to Friday.
