A new rooftop bar and restaurant, Yakisan, is coming to North Adelaide, on top of the spectacular new $300 million Eighty Eight O’Connell development, where the old Le Cornu site once stood.

The restaurant will be led by well-known local Chef Adam Liston, who has built a reputation across the city for his signature fire-based cooking style, with bold, smoky techniques and a focus on traditional Japanese flavours.

With a track record of success at popular Adelaide restaurants like SORA, Shobosho, ShoSho, and Mozza, it’s an exciting evolution for Liston as he expands his expertise into new territory.

“Our vision is to create an intimate yet energetic space where the fire of our kitchen meets the freshness of the ocean, offering something truly unique to this vibrant new hub,” Executive Chef of Yakisan Adam Liston says. “This is not about abundance; it’s about precision, purity, and respect for the ingredients.”

The dining experience at Yakisan is said to rival global icon Nobu, the world-famous Japanese restaurant chain known for its amazing food that attracts celebrities from around the globe to its locations.

Partnering with Nate Scutter, Liston will be bringing a similar world-class, Japanese-inspired experience, with a menu that will be available all day.

“With 88 O’Connell set to become the beating heart of North Adelaide, we saw an opportunity to create something truly special – a dining experience that ignites the senses,” Co-Founder and Managing Director of Yakisan Nate Scutter says.

“Yakisan is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience that brings the primal beauty of fire cooking to the heart of North Adelaide in an atmosphere that’s intimate, vibrant, and alive with energy.”

Along with its undoubtedly stunning restaurant, Yakisan will serve the poolside residents of Eighty Eight O’Connell, providing an all-day dining menu to complement the luxury lifestyle of the area.

The restaurant is set to open at the end of this year, when the construction of Eighty Eight O’Connell is expected to be completed as well.

The new development will see additional dining options, with Gelato Messina opening its flagship store, and iconic Italian food retailer Mercato launching its second location. Plus, there will be a mix of fashion boutiques, health and wellness services, alongside 165 luxurious apartments spread across three buildings.
