New Tasting Room opens at Varney Wines this September

Varney Wines introduces its new premium Tasting Room to wine lovers of South Australia, providing visitors with an intimate experience.

At the gateway of McLaren Vale, the popular Varney Wines is introducing its new premium Tasting Room to wine lovers of South Australia, offering visitors an intimate experience through the winery’s rich history.

Located in the iconic 1870s limestone barn on the same site as former restaurant Victor’s Place, the new Tasting Room is designed for exclusivity, catering to up to six guests at a time and allowing guests to enjoy a personalised and guided wine-tasting journey of some of their well-known drops.

Varney Wines Marketing Manager Sophie is excited to welcome visitors to the new space. ‘The Cellar Door has had a refresh, and now it’s a more modern style Tasting Room,’ says Sophie. ‘Guests will get access to limited edition wines that aren’t available online and will get to learn about the different vintages and history of our winery.’

One of the standout features of the Tasting Room is its design, which seamlessly integrates the working winery. This allows visitors the chance to witness Varney Wines’ operations firsthand as well as immerse themselves in the beautiful Fleurieu location.

‘Whilst visiting the winery, guests can take in the breathtaking views of the Onkaparinga Gorge from the winery’s verandah, enjoying a glass or bottle of Varney’s finest wines,’ says Sophie.

Owners Alan Varney and Kathrin Dressler have poured their hearts and a decade of hard work into restoring the heritage barn, and adjacently, they’ve built an environmentally-conscious winery which is a testament to their commitment to preserving both tradition and nature. They take great pride in sharing their tale—from vineyard to glass—giving guests an understanding of the dedication that’s found in every bottle.

For the dedicated wine aficionados, Varney Wines recently introduced the ‘Vino Varney’ Wine Club. Members are privy to a range of benefits, including exclusive access to newly released wines, enticing savings, and sought-after VIP invitations.

Winning Best New Winery from the Halliday Wine Companion in 2021, Varney Wines has further established its reputation by being recognised as a Top Winery by the Real Review and was nominated as a finalist in the Young Gun of Wine Awards.

‘Our Grenache Mouvedre Touringa blend from our Entrada range won Best Grenache Blend at the McLaren Vale Wine Show last year,’ says Sophie. ‘Each of the three wines within that range is hugely popular and viewed as a ready-to-drink wine, whilst many of our other varietals are more of a matured vintage.’

Varney Wines is a must-visit destination in McLaren Vale for people 18 and over and the perfect place to stop on your way to lunch for a quick tasting or as your last vino pit stop on your way home. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or someone who simply appreciates a good bottle, Varney Wines promises a great wine-tasting experience for every palate.
