New webcam at Victoria Park to support testing site

People seeking a COVID-19 test at Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) can now use 24-hour vision of the site to help them decide when to get tested.

People seeking a COVID-19 test at Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) can now use 24-hour vision of the site to help them decide when to get tested.

A camera has been set up on the Victoria Park Grandstand building to cover the testing area. This will provide community members who are thinking of attending the chance to monitor how busy the testing site is to help them decide when to visit or choose an alternative site.

It also provides SA Health with some additional eyes on the ground at the location to help with the effective management of the site.

Council’s Information Management Team came up with the initiative in response to increased traffic in the area due to the current lockdown. It was then proposed to SAPOL and SA Health that a livestream of the Victoria Park testing site could quickly be established to assist in monitoring the area.

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor said the initiative will assist in the safe management and administration of the COVID-19 testing site.

“This is a simple but really smart initiative from our team that can be used at any time of the day or night to help the community decide when and where to be tested,” said the Lord Mayor.

“Our public realm team has also done a great job in acting very quickly to support SA Health in making clean toilets available at the site throughout the day and night.”

Vision will be streamed on the City of Adelaide website at https://explore.cityofadelaide.com.au/webcams/victoria-park/

Permanent Public Toilets

CoA has arranged for the south and north toilet blocks and the toilet block behind the Grandstand to remain open 24 hours. CoA has also engaged a contractor to clean these toilets three times during the day and SA Health has engaged cleaning staff to maintain these toilets at night.

Portable Toilets

SA Health have installed eight additional portable toilets on site and has its own cleaning staff on site
24/7 to maintain these toilets.

Acting CEO Clare Mockler thanked the teams involved for their good work in assisting the community.

“Our rapid response to the lockdown and working closely with SA Health and other stakeholders to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our community has been outstanding,” said Ms Mockler.
