47km South of Adelaide’s city centre sits the picturesque town of Willunga, which according to Plan SA, is set to get a new communal and tourist health hub called Willunga Wellness.
The plans allude that the new venue will breathe life into a vacant space on Main Road, promising an immersive experience that blends health, community, and tourism.
Formerly a cellar door, the building will undergo a transformation into a multifunctional space catering to the diverse needs of visitors and locals alike. With its quaint charm and eclectic vibe, Willunga serves as the perfect backdrop with its deep-rooted connection to the land and its people.
Symbolised by a logo featuring two hands, the initiative pays homage to the hardworking individuals who have shaped the region’s flourishing primary production industry.
The centrepiece of Willunga Wellness is set to be its organic farm-gate shop, housed in the converted cellar door. Here, visitors will be able to enjoy a wide array of locally sourced food and beverage options, including organic wines from the region and fresh produce from the renowned Willunga Farmers Market.
The shop’s commitment to championing local products extends to its support of regional artists, with the space doubling as an art gallery showcasing the area’s vibrant creative scene.
In addition to its retail offerings, Willunga Wellness will provide tourist accommodation in five thoughtfully curated rooms. Guests can immerse themselves in health and wellness retreats, enjoying a bespoke experience that combines relaxation with an appreciation for the region’s primary production heritage.
Each stay will include a complimentary food and beverage welcome hamper sourced directly from the on-site farm-gate shop, further enhancing the connection to the local community.
Complementing the accommodation are dedicated spaces for wellness activities, including a pilates studio, yoga room, exercise room, and relaxation area complete with massage tables and cozy seating. These facilities cater to both guests and the broader community, with classes and services designed to promote holistic wellbeing and vitality.
