It’s the harmony between body and mind, that is so much more than just a physical practice. Used for thousands of years, Yoga is a tool utilised by many to achieve emotional clarity and an unrivalled state of calm.
The practice of yoga has gained popularity across the world over the past few decades but as the clan of devoted yogis grows, so too does the perception that the practice is reserved for a certain demographic, deterring others from starting their yoga journey.
But a new Unley-based studio is looking to change this rhetoric. Equilibrium – The Holistic Living Project is not just a beautiful space visually but also in how it makes you feel. Owner and Founder, Ellie Johns, has created an open and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
With 14 years in the industry, Ellie drew inspiration for her newest venture from her past experience as well as trends from other cities where boutique, holistic style studios are becoming the norm.

“The Equilibrium experience is one where we want you to feel supported & nurtured. We wanted to offer a holistic approach to health,” says Ellie.
“Our idea with the Unley studio was to create a home to all, a little sanctuary away from the rest of the world. We really wanted to provide a space that allows our members to heal, grow, smile, learn and most of all feel safe and welcomed.”
Offering yoga classes for all levels as well as 1-on-1 teachings, yoga and movement coaching, infrared saunas, Normatec Compression and an Ice Bath room, Equilibrium incorporates all the best aspects of health and wellness in a one.
The Unley studio has curated a comprehensive weekly schedule of Balanced Flow classes for those who like to take it a little slower, Equanimity Flow classes for those who want to move and build up heat in the body, Yin yoga classes for a more meditative practice and Foundational classes are coming soon for new students who want to learn the basics.
“There’s no need for previous experience in yoga to come practice with us. We like to keep our classes small & intimate, with no more than 17 students in each class.” says Ellie.

All equipment is provided for complimentary use at the studio. Latex-free Manduka mats are closed-cell, which means they are hygienic and won’t absorb sweat. The Unley yoga studio also provides bolsters, blocks, straps, eye pillows and blankets with towel hire also available.
If this home away from home sounds like something you might like to escape to Equilibrium is offering introductory passes where you can trial the studio for 30 days for only $49.
